Mego Head of the Month: Vulcan2074

Museum Handle: Vulcan2074

Real Name: Sammy

Do you have a website or a blog? No, not at this time.

Where do you hail from? I’m originally from Texas but I currently live in California. I Love this state.

How did you find the Megomuseum? One day I was looking for pictures of MEGOs using Google and I saw the link. After I explored the Gallery I was hooked. I’ve been coming here ever since. The Museum is the best place for information hands down.

What inspired you to join the forum? After I saw the topics of the threads and read some of the posts I decided to jump right in. I’m so glad that I did, I’ve met a lot of Cool people and I’ve had a lot of fun.

What is your favorite Mego line? I’m a huge fan of The Worlds Greatest Superheroes. There the best hands down. Their colors and sculpts are fantastic. Ever since I was growing up I had a thing for Superheroes. It all started with my sister. She gave me a bunch of her old comics and ever since then I’ve been hooked on Superheroes. I also really dig Star Trek. I loved watching the reruns growing up. That has to be my second all time favorite MEGO line.

Happiest Mego Memory? It has to be the time that my Mom had brought home the Star Trek bridge playset with the crew for me. That’s one memory I’ll never forget. We still talk about it to this day.

What’s the one thing you’re hunting for? I’d love to find the Shark. I can dream can’t I?

What’s one item in your collection your most proud of? I really have a special place in my Heart for my MOC Andorian.

AHI Monsters

Any other hobbies, collections? As of lately my toy collecting has taken over all of my free time. My favorite lines to collect are MEGOs, ahi, Star Wars, SMDM, Gashapon and Simpsons. My other interests are Martial Arts, collecting stickers and non-sport trading cards and watching movies made by the Shaw Bros. They have some of the all time greatest Kung-Fu flicks.

AHI Monsters

Any words of wisdom for beginning collectors? Patience is the key. There’s always another toy just right around the corner. Also have fun.

Many thanks to Sammy for sharing with us this month! See you in 30 with another Mego Museum Member Collector Profile!

Megohead of the Month for March is SlipperyLilSuckers

Museum Handle:
Slipperylilsuckers

First Name?
Cat

Where do you hail from?
Sydney, Australia

How did you find the Megomuseum?
I did a search on old Superman figures and found a mailing list which eventually led me to MM.

What inspired you to join the forum?
From around 2001, I lurked around the place for almost 2 years, I was very shy back in those days. Abmac constantly encouraged me to make posts and join in once I finally signed up and made a couple of posts.

What is your favorite Mego line?
WGSH without a doubt.

Happiest Mego Memory?
Getting my boxed Superman when I was a kid. Finding my name in Benjamin’s book has to rank pretty highly too.

What’s one item in your collection your most proud of?
My Cheetah, made with love and great skill as a gift from my partner. If I could keep only one figure, she would have to be it.

What’s the one thing you’re hunting for in 2009?
A Lili Ledy Supernina

Any other hobbies, collections?

I also love Big Jim, The Lone Ranger, die-cast cars and most recently, Star Wars and Batman Lego. I have bits and pieces of all kinds of things that have taken my fancy over the years.

Any words of wisdom for beginning collectors?

Be patient…there will probably be another one around the corner. I went mad when I first started collecting and probably could have gotten a lot better deals. Also, go for dust preventing displays.

Megohead of the Month for February is Nayrbgo

Museum Handle: nayrbgo

First Name? Bryan

Do you have a website or a blog? I do. I gather my various strands of activity at http://bryansanders.com/ and I have an endless project of my wacked upside the head creative vision over at http://salonities.net/.

Where do you hail from? I am one of a rare breed of local Santa Monica kids out here on the Left Coast.

How did you find the Megomuseum? Suckerman brought me to the halls of the Mego Museum. I decided to have a Suckerman again, got hooked into some old 70s toys commercial youtube flicks, and sure enough I found the pie. I’ve been partaking very heavily ever since.

What inspired you to join the forum? After just a few minutes of poking around in the forums, looking for some information about this or that, it just became clear to me that I had found a nice bunch of people that were perhaps wilder than me about toys from yesteryear. I didn’t take me long to be on the forums every day. The customs really got me right in my zany vibe, and thus was born my Kitbash Krew.

What is your favorite Mego line? I can’t get enough of the WGSH, but I would have to name the Fist Fighters, Magnetic Batman and Robin, and of course the Ledys (but I really would name all non-USA MEGOs here!).

Happiest Mego Memory? My brother and I used to take our cars and figures and play all around the house. We came up with a song that we sang over and over again. Great happy times of growing up together.

What’s one item in your collection your most proud of? Proud as punch about my Ledy Batchica and my MOC case fresh Klingon and Kirk, of course,

What’s the one thing you’re hunting for in 2009?
I’m hunting for foreign MEGOs in their original packaging. Call me crazy.

Any other hobbies, collections?
I’m a Garbage Pail Kid, a REMCO kid, and if you must know, I have a weakness for diecast cars.

Any words of wisdom for beginning collectors?
If it looks dirty, you can probably clean it. If it costs too much, you are probably undervaluing it. If it is going cheap, then don’t tell anyone until it’s in your hands.

Megohead of the Month for January is Monsterama 2000

A new feature here at the Mego Museum will be a monthly spotlight on one of the many members of the Mego Forums. A way to get to know your fellow collector if you haven't already. Our first candidate is Erick aka "Monsterama2000" who was kind enough to share with us.

Museum Handle: Monsterama2000

First Name? Erick

Do you have a website or a blog? Wonderful Wonderblog

Where do you hail from? Akron, OH

How did you find the Megomuseum? I think I did a Google search for Mego.

What inspired you to join the forum? I submitted some photos to the PlaidStallions blog and Brian sent me a small stack of Mego Museum cards. I'd visited the Museum before, but I joined the forum to find out more about the cards.

What is your favorite Mego line? That's a tough one. I love the WGSH, POTA and Mad Monsters. But, I'll have to go with the Micronauts. It's what I had (and still have) the most of. My brother always had more of the 8 inch guys than I did.

Happiest Mego Memory? Hmmm. Another tough question. I don't have a lot of specific memories.

What’s one item in your collection your most proud of? How about two items. I still have my Teraphant and Hornetroid with the boxes.

What’s the one thing you’re hunting for in 2009? I don't actually hunt for stuff that often. If I find something cheap at a yard sale, flea market or thrift store, I'll buy it. I'd love to find some POTA or Mad Monsters.

Any other hobbies, collections? YES! I'm pretty much trying to find every toy or book I had in the 1970s. One of my biggest collections is comic books. I probably have about 3 or 4000. Including a complete run (minus the first six issues) of the Incredible Hulk.I also have tons of non-sport cards. Including the 1966 Donruss Marvel Superheroes, all of the original Star Wars and KISS cards. I collect almost anything Hulk, KISS and Universal Monsters. And I make scrapbooks.

Any words of wisdom for beginning collectors? I just try to collect things that I had as a child. Collect whatever you enjoy. It's all good.
