    Restoration help?

I purchased a 12" 1979 Mego Hulk. It came loose with no pants and some of the paint worn off the hair.
What type of paint should I use on it for the hair, and what type of cloth should I use to make the pants? (I have a pattern for them)

    Hmmmm....

For vynil heads I use automotive interior paint. Soaks right in, better than the original. It's also pretty dangerous, so use it outside. For pants, I used an old t-shirt.

Just found out there's a coat the figure's supposed to have. Anyone know where to get a pattern for it?

I use one called Atelier. It is distributed in the US by a company called Chroma Inc. USA (Tel 1 717 626 8866)

Your local art store can probably recommend a good one...just tell them you want to paint acrylic onto vinyl...hope this helps.

Oh, also, I would recommend Delta Ceramcoat acrylics...they are smooth and nice to work with. (Deltacrafts.com)

On a side note, I've learned the hard way over the years to be careful of the help I recieve from people who sell these products. Perhaps it's just the Pacific Northwest, but many people who work in Hobby, Art and Hardware stores have given me well intended bad advice, in the area of glues and paints. Here in Olympia, I expect it even more.
Citidel Colors miniture paints have worked well for me over the years.

Most of the hobby acrylics are great (I use Reaper brand; they're cheaper) but they're also pretty fragile. You'll have to seal it with something, even if it's only gonna get light handling.

Citidel also makes a spray matt finish.

Yup! I use the Testors stuff though; it's pretty much the same, and it's a lot cheaper.

I've used Testors as well, with great results! If I'm not mistaken, I think the Testors worked best of the two. Light coating is the key to this process.
