What Sci-fi gadget would you really love to own if it existed?

Ever think to yourself - "I wish I had a ________ right now, it'd really be handy"? Try to keep it in the realm of possibility - I don't necessarily mean the Enterprise or a Super Star Destroyer (who wouldn't want one), but rather gadgets, weapons, gear, clothing, robots... whatever.

Not surprisingly most of mine come from Star Wars - I always wanted a functional speeder bike.
Although I'd probably lop off a leg by accident if I had a lightsaber I would love to have a smaller hunting knife type version.

I could probably have some crazy fun with a holodeck, although I'd never leave and would end up severely delusional.

Holodeck for sure. I would never leave it.

Muffet from Battlestar Galactica. When I was little I thought it would be neat to have a robot dog.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I've always loved the speeder bikes, too - the Endor chase was always my favorite SW sequence as a kid. Though, they're definitely from the "it just looks cool" school of design. (With 200 mile-per-hour wind resistance, there's no way you'd be able to stay on.)

As for the others, I think I'd be a little McCoy-ish about using the transporter beam; his concerns over molecular rippage always seemed very reasonable to me. YES to the holodeck. YES to lightsabers 'cause who doesn't want a lightsaber... though they'd be pretty terrifying in real life. Ditto a proton pack (and in the absence of ghosts, not sure what practical use it would have, anyway. A lightsaber could at least be handy in doing yard clean-up.)

Actually, I think the one thing I've always wanted the most would have to be Han Solo's blaster. Always liked the WWII broom-handle design, and it would just be a great stress reliever to go in the woods and annihilate pop cans with a blaster.

The Orb - from Woody Allan's "Sleeper" seems like a good invention.

The Infinite Improbability Drive - from "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" might come in handy.

R2-D2 is a great one too.
