I don't care what anyone says about the new Planet of the Apes...

...and whether you hate them on CGI/motion-capture...but to me...this was a very powerful scene...

Yahoo! Movies: Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)

Like I've said before...let's not compare it to the classic...let's see this as a stand alone film on its own right.

I think we are all in agreement here that nothing will ever best or replace the originals...but it sure looks like it's going to be a LOT better than Tim Burton's lame remake...

It can only be better from that POS film. Here's hoping!

If Jessica can be open-minded about it...so can the rest of you...

The story line doesn't seem as interesting to me as Conquest of... This also seems to remove the whole time/paradox problem the first film series inherited. Unless they have something new gestating in this film. Maybe I'll see the next film after this but truthfully the trailer didn't grab me, (not clicking on the link here either due to laziness). I also think this film suffers from the mentality in Hollywood that they "must" do a film series from the begining all the time, (ala Batman Begins). Sorry Hec.

Maybe I'm imagining things, but in the past 2 or 3 years, the "really good" animation of computers has become incredible! This film is remarkably smooth to the eye in ways that I have not seen before. I'm in.

I'm with you Hec. I am there opening day no matter what. I'd go to a midnight showing if they had one.

I love that he is holding a Statue of Liberty figure. That is a great touch

Wow! Thanks for the link to that footage, Hector. That rocked the house as far as I'm concerned. I loved the fact that Caesar helped John Lithgow with his fork and that he gave the car guy his just desserts [perhaps a little too vehemently, but he is still an ape at heart with wild animal impulsiveness]. The scene at the end with Caesar embracing JL's character gave me both chills and brought a tear to my eye. WETA is an effects house that can pull off ANYTHING it seems. Outstanding! I'm now looking far more forward to this than I was before!!!

sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

It was both a very powerful yet touching moment...amazing that a motion-capture character can display more emotion and have superior acting skills than most real humans...lol.
