This second wave of characters included <a href=\"tarzan.html\">Tarzan<\/a> and <a href=\"captainamerica.html\"> Captain America<\/a>. Spider-man is easily the best selling WGSH of all time, only his Marvel cohort the <a href=\"hulk.html\"> Hulk<\/a>, could give him a run for his money in terms of popularity.<\/p>\n<p>Spidey was produced from 1973 to 1982 and hold a rare distinction of being <strong> the only Marvel Hero to be in every Mego Superhero line produced.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- SECTION STARTS HERE --><br \/>\n<br clear=\"all\"><!--ANCHOR TAG --><\/p>\n<div class=\"subpad\"><a id=\"group\" name=\"group\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div id=\"subheadbox\">\n<div class=\"subhead\">Group Shot<\/div>\n<div class=\"topbox\"><a href=\"#top\">Return to Top<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><br clear=\"all\"><!-- SECTION ENDS HERE --><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Just a few of the many items Mego produced for Spider-Man\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/wgsh\/images\/megospidermanstuff.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"352\" align=\"bottom\" border=\"2\"><\/p>\n<p>Just a tiny sampling of the Spiderman merchandise produced by Mego. A number of Spider-man playsets and vehicles were produced in other formats by Mego. Of particular note would be the <a href=\"http:\/\/megomuseum.com\/heroes\/softies\/index.html\">Super Softies <\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/bendnflex\/index.html\">Bend N Flex<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/megomuseum.info\/heroes\/comicaction\/index.html\">Comic Action Heroes<\/a> but if it was a Superhero item made by Mego, Spider-Man was there.<\/p>\n<p><br clear=\"all\"><!--ANCHOR TAG --><\/p>\n<div class=\"subpad\"><a id=\"variations\" name=\"variations\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div id=\"subheadbox\">\n<div class=\"subhead\">Variations<\/div>\n<div class=\"topbox\"><a href=\"#top\">Return to Top<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!-- SECTION ENDS HERE --><\/p>\n<p>Because of his longevity within the line and the fact that Mego switched production facilities frequently, there are a great number of running changes and variations to Mego Spider-man, below is a chart showing just a few (Thanks to John P for his fantastic research).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"A number of Mego Spider-Man variations\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/wgsh\/images\/sm-all.jpg\" alt=\"\" align=\"bottom\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/wgsh\/images\/prosp.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"326\" align=\"bottom\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Mego Circle Suit Spiderman\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/wgsh\/images\/circle.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"265\" height=\"325\" align=\"bottom\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One of the more desirable variations are the &#8220;Circle Suit&#8221; which was an early attempt at silk screening the Spidey Logo. Pictured on the left is a shot of an early Spider-Man prototype and on the right an early Circle Suit Spidey standing next to <a href=\"http:\/\/megomuseum.info\/wgsh\/secretids\/peter.html\">Peter Parker<\/a>. Marvel wasn&#8217;t happy with the circle suits and they were quickly corrected.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Spider-man Variants\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/wgsh\/images\/spidvariant.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"422\" height=\"302\" align=\"bottom\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another good example of costume variations is the hourglass and wide cut on the type 2 Spider-man figures.
