The diecast figures were 5.5 inches tall and were marketed as &#8220;Limited edition&#8221; no doubt to interest collectors which may have been one of the first times a toy company thought to attract action figure collectors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"the GIG Diecast Superheroes pose for this very cool ad\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/images\/mego_diecast.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZfYS3NwkZt0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">The Magnetic figures were produced in Italy only and released by GIG ( who also did innovative things with Mego lines such as&nbsp;<a style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/blackhole\/index.html\">The Black Hole<\/a>&nbsp;<a style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/micronauts\/micronauts.html\">Micronauts<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/eagleforce\/index.html\">Eagle Force<\/a>) although a&nbsp;<a style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/diecast\/hulk.html\">prototype for the US cards<\/a>&nbsp;has surfaced, Mego had attempted to launch them stateside.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">These 7&#8243; tall figures have a crossover popularity with both Mego, Superhero and Micronaut collectors and remain difficult to find packaged. The artwork used for the cards was also used for the&nbsp;<a style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/elastic\/index.html\">Elastic Heroes<\/a>&nbsp;and<a style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/pocket\/packagingdenim.html\">Pocket Hero Denim Cards<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"the GIG Magnetic Superheroes pose for this very cool ad\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/images\/mego_mag.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">This very cool GIG ads for the Mego Magnetic and diecast heroes are courtesy of Stefano<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Batman<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a id=\"Batman\" name=\"Batman\"><\/a><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/images\/diebat.jpg\" alt=\"Mego diecast Batman\"><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/images\/dbat.jpg\" alt=\"Boxed Mego Diecast batman\"><\/p>\n<p>Diecast Batman was available worldwide, released by GIG (Italy), Palitoy (UK) and many more. Above is the US packaging. Mego was attempting to cash in on the collectors market by making these figures &#8220;Limited editions&#8221;. It appears to have had an impact as these figures are often found MIB. Diecast Batman has a fabric cape but Magnetic Batman has a plastic cape modified from the&nbsp;<a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/micronauts\/micronauts.html\">Micronauts Emperor<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/images\/magbats.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Magnetic Batman was only released in Europe, packaged examples of Magnetic Batman are hard to find. These figures incoporporate the magnetic features from the&nbsp;<a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/micronauts\/micronauts.html\">Mego Micronauts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to Batman collector extraordinaire Rich Hilliard, we have a shot of the difficult to find boxed Magnetic Batman.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/images\/mabbatb.jpg\" alt=\"Boxed GIG Magnetic Batman\" border=\"2\"><\/p>\n<p>The back of the GIG Batman box. (Photo is courtesy of Mark Huckabone of&nbsp;<a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/stores.ebay.com\/Heroes-West-Coast\">Heroes Toy Company<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a id=\"Hulk\" name=\"Hulk\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Hulk<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/images\/diehulk.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">Die cast Hulk is a a very solid figure and one of the better sculpts out there<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Boxed Mego diecast Hulk\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/images\/dhulk.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">All Die Cast heroes were sold window boxed, the only known variants are the distributor logos on the packaging.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/images\/gighulk.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">Italian released Magnetic Hulk<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Moc Mego Magnetic Hulk\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/images\/maghulk.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">These 7&#8243; tall Magnetic figures were only produced by Gig of Italy and are obvious attempts to cash in on the Micronauts craze. These figures are based on the Magno figures such as Baron Karza and Force Commander, Gig also produced Magno figures of the black hole figures, for futher info please check out&nbsp;<a style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/blackhole\/index.html\">The Mego Black Hole Pages&nbsp;<\/a>.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/images\/maghulkb.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">While more commonly found on cards, the Magnetics can be found in boxes as well. The only known figure to be found boxed is Hulk, perhaps his TV popularity constituted a separate release?<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Mego Magna Heroes Hulk Card<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">Essentially a pasted together mock up, this card was probably used at toyfair to generate buyer interest states side in the Magna Heroes line.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/images\/Magno_hulk.jpg\" alt=\"\" align=\"bottom\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">The reads 1979 and shows the Hulk used for the 1979 card as seen below:<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/wgsh\/images\/spdhulk.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"586\" height=\"302\" align=\"bottom\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">When the toyline was released by Gig in 1980, they used the Neal Adams artwork that also adorned the Diecast heroes and Denim carded&nbsp;<a style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/ph1.shtml\">Mego pocket heroes.<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/images\/bjhulkb.jpg\" alt=\"\" align=\"bottom\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">The Backer is a photocopy with the pictures glued on, notice the corrections in red pen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/heroes\/images\/Magno_hulk2.jpg\" alt=\"\" align=\"bottom\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">Sadly the line never took off in North America but it is nice to see how it might have looked.
