One of these days I may actually add some annoying sound loops to this site for the sole purpose of making sure that funky bass song accompanies this page. While you&#8217;re at the commercials, watch and enjoy again the kids JUMPING OFF buildings to jump the badguys just like their TV heroes! Oh, those were the good old days.<\/p>\n<p>In 1978, Mego released this line based on the hit TV show with a blonde and brunette detective team. Sold quite well. Toss in the <a href=\"shtorino.html\">Ford Torino<\/a>? Suddenly, this looks fun. But let&#8217;s also investigate the players individually and get to know them up close and personal, shall we?<\/p>\n<p>First, the SUPERFLY Huggy-Bear models the Starsky and Hutch Card art with a cool painting of the Grand Torino parked on the grimy asphalt of a dingy back alley where dreams are cheap and life is cheaper. As you can see Grand merely stickered the US product to make it bilingual. All five of the Starsky and Hutch characters were available in Canada<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/teevee\/images\/grandstarsky2.jpg\" alt=\"GRAND TOYS STARSKY AND HUTCH FIGURE\" \/><br \/>\nClose up of the Canadian sticker.<\/p>\n<div class=\"subpad\"><a id=\"huggy\" name=\"Huggy\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div id=\"subheadbox\">\n<div class=\"subhead\">Huggy Bear<\/div>\n<div class=\"topbox\"><a href=\"#top\">Return to Top<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/teevee\/images\/shhuggybear.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" align=\"bottom\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"basicblack\">Huggy Bear (Antonio Fargas) The Huggy Bear\u00a0Mego figure has a lot of the character that it portrays, but it&#8217;s\u00a0a minor oversight that they didn&#8217;t include one of John Boy Walton&#8217;s\u00a0floppy denim hats that are more suited to Huggy.\u00a0Mister Fargas was in many of the important &#8220;blacksploitation&#8221;\u00a0films of the Seventies including &#8220;Shaft&#8221; and &#8220;Cleopatra\u00a0Brown&#8221;. He also appeared in &#8220;Pretty Baby&#8221;, &#8220;I&#8217;m\u00a0Gonna Git You Sucka&#8221; and had a regular role on &#8220;All My\u00a0Children&#8221;. He will always be Huggy Bear to us, though.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/teevee\/images\/Shhuggy.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"subpad\"><a id=\"doby\" name=\"Doby\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div id=\"subheadbox\">\n<div class=\"subhead\">Doby<\/div>\n<div class=\"topbox\"><a href=\"#top\">Return to Top<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/teevee\/images\/shdoby.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" align=\"bottom\" \/><br \/>\nUnder-appreciated as a minor character in a lesser line, Captain Dobey<br \/>\nis nonetheless one of the better facial sculpts. The outfit, a kind of<br \/>\ndenim leisure suit, is classic to it&#8217;s time.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/teevee\/images\/shdobyface.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"basicblack\">Capt. Harold Dobey (Bernie Hamilton)<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/teevee\/images\/Shdobey.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Carded S&amp;H set courtesy of Scott Arendsen<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his role as the gruff but lovable police Captain,<br \/>\nMr. Hamilton was featured in episodes of the Dick Van Dyke show,<br \/>\nand the Twilight Zone. Film roles included Shambu in &#8220;Tarzan<br \/>\nand the Perils of Charity Jones&#8221; (1967) followed almost immediately<br \/>\nwith the part of Chaka in &#8220;Tarzan and the Four O&#8217;Clock Army&#8221;<br \/>\n(1968) Mr. Hamilton apparently stopped working after Starsky and<br \/>\nHutch.<\/p>\n<div class=\"subpad\"><a id=\"chopper\" name=\"Chopper\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div id=\"subheadbox\">\n<div class=\"subhead\">Chopper<\/div>\n<div class=\"topbox\"><a href=\"#top\">Return to Top<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/teevee\/images\/shchopper.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" align=\"bottom\" \/><br \/>\nThe figure of <span class=\"basicblack\">Chopper<\/span> is not based\u00a0on any one actor, but is more a combination of various bad guy\/tough\u00a0dude characters on the show. He is a pastiche, if you will. Nonetheless,\u00a0I&#8217;m pretty sure I&#8217;ve seen him in reruns of Hawaii 5 O, Mannix, Barnaby\u00a0Jones, and several other Quinn-Martin productions.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/teevee\/images\/Shchop.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"subpad\"><a id=\"torino\" name=\"Torino\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div id=\"subheadbox\">\n<div class=\"subhead\">Starsky and Hutch Torino Car<\/div>\n<div class=\"topbox\"><a href=\"#top\">Return to Top<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/teevee\/images\/shtor01a.JPG\" alt=\"Mego Starsky and Hutch Torino\" width=\"509\" height=\"378\" align=\"bottom\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"basicblack\">It&#8217;s as cool as you&#8217;ve dreamed it was. A little<br \/>\ncramped, but very cool.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/teevee\/images\/shtor03.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"370\" height=\"249\" align=\"bottom\" \/><br \/>\nDidn&#8217;t think there was a point in collecting S&amp;H Figures?\u00a0This bad boy will change your mind in a hurry and be one of\u00a0the prizes on the toy shelf. It&#8217;s pretty hard to find these\u00a0days. The American Version of the car is motorized, one large\u00a0wheel in the center of the car to propel it, and a swiveled\u00a0&#8220;crazy wheel&#8221; on the front to spin the car in random\u00a0different directions. The American version also came with\u00a0police barricades, trash cans and a fire hydrant. The UK version\u00a0shows up now and again, without the motor or extra accessories.\u00a0Both versions have a working police light on top. You lucky\u00a0folk with one in a box are invited to get some pictures in&#8230;<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/teevee\/images\/shtor02.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"181\" align=\"bottom\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/teevee\/images\/torinob2.jpg\" alt=\"\" align=\"bottom\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.megomuseum.com\/teevee\/images\/torinob.jpg\" alt=\"\" align=\"bottom\" \/><br \/>\nBelow is the Palitoy (UK) release of the Torino.
