This year’s Aw Yeah Mego Meet event was held on June 18th in Skokie Illinois at the Doubletree Hotel and Conference Center.

This year’s show was filled with a particularly positive energy, kicked off by a new feature, the launch party graciously hosted by our partners at Aw Yeah Comics Skokie. Early bird attendees enjoyed snacks and refreshments in a relaxed setting. It was the perfect way to begin.

Dealer setup day saw a mix of returning faces and new opportunities to put a face to a screen name. Toys were sold, tips were shared and children got a heck of a lot taller.

The Saturday start saw strong attendance from registered members and walk-ins, and the dealer rooms buzzed all day.

Thanks to a generous donation from Figures Toy Company, Mego fans young and older won dozens of door prizes in the form of carded figures.

We had a number of Cos-Players this year including these fantastic Mego inspired suits from Lily and Brue.

We brought back a tradition this year with the first group photo in Skokie. We didn’t have one of these in 2015 and it was sorely missed.

Another regular tradition, the Mego Museum Bandwidth auction was handled with style by the adroit Christopher Noon from “The Big Toy Auction” who kept the auction moving and making us laugh.

We drew the festivities to a close with the annual customs competition, resulting in three winners in the kid’s section and the adult winner was Doug Lillo for his (pretty sweet) Creeper custom.

The evening concluded in the aformentioned “Mego Suite” where fans worked on customs, talked about their finds and most of all relaxed.

Aw Yeah Mego Meet 2016 flew by before we knew it, but then again, fun things always do.

Colossal recognition goes to our show runner and head worker bee Steve Moore for making it look easy. All good times at AYMM2016 were trickled through his actions and hard work.
