Time once again to shine the spotlight onto one of our Mego Forum Members and find out a little more about them and see all the wonderful goodies they have:
Museum Handle: Scoth70
Real Name: Dave Scothern
Where do you hail from? Nottinghamshire, Great Britain
How did you find the Mego Museum? I found the Museum back when it was the old website layout… I wanted to find out about Megos because it said Mego on the back of my planet of apes figure I found on a car boot/yard sale… it bought back memories from having some as a child.
What inspired you to join the forum? I joined the museum because I found lots of information which listed all Megos that had been made and I never knew there was so many….it was very interesting and I wanted to try build a collection of my own as they looked so good on the museum pictures.
What is your favorite Mego line? Now that’s very tough to answer…. but I’d say the superhero/villains line is in the top.
Happiest Mego Memory? When I was little ..opening one of my Christmas presents before the 25th while my parents were in the other room…it was a carded Mego 8 inch Spidey… after playing with it i wrapped it back up as if nothing had ever happened 🙂
Also when about 8 I had a Mego Dracula.. that really did end up getting buried in the back garden.
What is the one thing you’re hunting for? Figures I’m hunting for now if I could get one would be the Mego Talosian…. a few years ago I lost my job and decided to sell off some of my collection….Talos is one I let go…. I wish I hadn’t and it would be nice to own him again as I know I should have kept him.
What is one item in your collection your most proud of? My item I’m most proud of has got to be my original boxed Zorro.. knowing there only about ten boxed examples in the whole world is really a buzz 🙂 and of course something to be proud of.
Any other hobbies or collections? I don’t really have other hobbies but before Megos I was keen at model building..tamiya kits etc, but know I’m always busy upgrading my Megos to try get the best i can of everything i want.
Any words of wisdom for beginning collectors? If your new to the forum and would like to start collecting Megos then go for it…. this forum has many fantastic members who will help out in anything they can that you need.. by sale or by trade ..I’ve got many missing parts through the Museum it’s been a fantastic place for my Mego collection…not to forget to mention its the best Mego forum there is.. In my opinion 🙂
Many thanks to Dave for sharing with us this month! See you in 31 with another Mego Museum Member Collector Profile!
