Original 1979 ToyFair Promotional Sheet for Mego 12″ Captain America figure. Cap’s inclusion into this line was likely influenced by the CBS TV Movies starring Reb Brown, which were rumoured to be going to a series.

Mego 12″ Captain America had been promised since the 1st 12″ figures produced by Canada’s Parkdale Novelty in 1977. Cap and Mr Fantastic were shown on the packaging to help balance out the “Worlds Finest Trio” on the DC boxes. However, interviews with Parkdale’s Morris Kotzer revealed there weren’t any plans to make either of them at the time.

This makes Cap’s late addition to the US line somewhat sweeter although we never got that 12″ Mr. Fantastic, which would have rocked.
