Cancelled: Anti-Man- Doctor Who
In the classic 4th Doctor tale “Planet of Evil” (1975), the “anti-man” refers to Professor Sorenson (played by Who veteran Frederick Jaeger), who becomes infected with anti-matter after he smuggled particles off the planet Zeta-Minor.
This transformation turns him into a futuristic Mr. Hyde, capable of draining life and even multiplying into energy copies when exposed to radiation.
The Anti-Man was offered in a bundle with Elrdrad from “Hand of Fear.” Unfortunately, the BBC terminated the license before they could see production (I’m still mad! – Brain).
The tooling for the Big Bang Pow! 8″ figures was courtesy of EMCE Toys.
Original Prototype
Editor’s Notes: Anti-Man was a deep cut from Bif Bang Pow! as the character hasn’t received much merchandise despite the popularity of the story. The paint on the prototype also betrays the sculpture; the face is too clean and bright, and the hair is more grey than white. Perhaps this figure has gone into production; we would have seen this corrected.
Super Geeky Mego Nerd Stuff- “Planet of Evil” featured a cast of legendary Who regulars, but Prentiss Hancock shared something with star Tom Baker, as he also had a Mego action figure of himself. Hancock was the second in command on the first season of Gerry Anderson’s “Space:1999”, and Palitoy Bradgate’s Paul Morrow figure is one of Mego’s finest figures.

The Boot detailing is a nice touch.

The Bif Bang Pow! The Doctor Who line was heavily influenced by Mego’s Doctor Who line via Denys Fisher in the United Kingdom. Visit the classic Mego Museum Doctor Who Galleries for more info.
