Mego Catalog Library: 1976 Star Trek

The 1976 catalog opens with Star Trek and it's rather fitting.

Despite being cancelled in 1969, Star Trek hadn't hit it's audience until 4 years later in syndication where it became a phenomena. Sensing this Neal Kublan fought hard for Mego to pick up the $ 5,000.00 license.

While president Martin Abrams was initially hesitant, as Kublan explains he also gave him full support " He finally acquiesced when I got the advance for $5,000. Once he made a decision, he backed you up and let you go."

The line was an explosive hit and was expanded to include four alien characters. The Aliens don't much resemble their on screen counterparts but much of that may have been due to design decisions made in Hong Kong where as the Trek crew was designed stateside.
