One of the most exciting things about San Diego Comic Con this year was the triumphant return of the Micronauts courtesy of their new owners at Hasbro. They have big plans for Mego’s smash action figure line including a feature film adaptation. However for SDCC, they wonderfully recreated three of their most popular figures Pharoid, Galactic Warrior and Orbital (formerly Galactic) Defender for this limited edition boxed set. Which is available on Hasbro’s website for North America and sadly, Ebay for the rest of the world.
The figures are very authentic recreations, the only subtle difference being the new Galactic Warrior isn’t made of diecast metal. The set is topped by some new artwork by legendary artist Ken Kelly, who created some of the most memorable packaging in the original line. If that wasn’t enough, the figures themselves are packed in a cardboard recreation of the Astro Station. Somebody at Hasbro did their homework.
