Loose Mego Playset Breaks Sales Records!

At a recent New York toy show, what is believed to be a record price for a Mego playset was paid for the very rare Mego The Flint stones playset. Based upon the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon show of the same name, Mego's rock age playset was issued in very small quantities in 1977. At first believed by collectors to have been a Wards Department Store Christmas exclusive, at least one MIB example has been found with a Toys R Us price sticker on it proving otherwise. To date less then ten Flintstones playsets are known to exist. The near mint loose set was the first Flintstones playset reported for sale/sold in at least six years.

Mego's whimsical The Flintstones playset includes 5 112" figures of Fred, his wife Wilma, their neighbors Barney and Betty Rubble, along with the Flintstones pet dinosaur Dino. The set includes the Prehistoric Flintstone's house, a "genuine imitation sabertooth lamp", and arm chair. A flintrock table, two chairs, a leopard print rug, cave man stove, leopard print curtains and rods are also included. The playset comes with a Fred's rock mobile which when pushed allows Fred's head to turn back and forth.
