Mego 1980 Order Form- Click for a larger view
The Order form from the (Ahh! Clowns!) 1980 Mego catalogue has a lot of it’s fair share of rare and sadly unproduced toys from 1980. We have scanned the Order form in high resolution so everyone can see the case packs and wholesale pricing for many of these items; here are a few of the more interesting ones.
Elastic Plasticman, which had a limited release, came in a case of 6 at $11.99 per unit. For perspective, a Pocket Superhero figure was $1.99 that same year, and the price for the never-produced “Spider-Man Alley” Playset was only 9.99.
The 24″ Growling Hulk would have been able to go toe to toe with Shogun Warriors, but it never got past this prototype. The cost would have been 9.99 each, and it would have come in a (big) box of 6 units.
The Black Hole Cygnus playset, which did not see production, was also slated to come in a case of 6 at $9.99 per unit. This likely would have made its retail price in the $14-18 range depending on the chain.
The Black Hole Palomino Ship, another casualty that year, was priced at $7.99. Which likely would have had it in the $11-13 dollar range. The highest-priced Black Hole item that year would be the Remote Control Vincent, which came packed in pairs with a cost of $49.95 each(!)

Meanwhile in Micropolis
Micronauts Equestron
The proposed Motorized Micronaut Steed Equestron was slated to come packed in 6 for $14.99 each.
Micronauts Iguanos
The similarly doomed Iguanos was a remote-controlled dinosaur (which I would have really wanted at that age) that had a cost of $24.99 per unit. A case of four would cost under $100 for a retailer.
On the Star Trek side of things, the Vulcan Shuttle playset, which was meant to connect with the Enterprise bridge playset (hence that big round tube of a door) was slated to come in packs of six at a cost of $8.99 per unit, which was one dollar cheaper than the Enterprise.
