Its Awards show time again as we announce the winners of 2015 as chosen by you. Like every Kubby Awards, we’re thankful to the many companies that produce these figures for having so much choice in the matter. This year was a stellar one packed with Superheroes, Monsters, Villains, Robots, Apes and rebels, so much to choose from!
The Kubby Awards are named after former Mego VP Neal Kublan and are an annual event celebrating achievements in Modern or “ReMego” figures over the past year.
Now on with who we thought were the best action figures of 2015!
BEST HERO FIGURE OF 2015:
#1 Snake Plissken (NECA)
#2 Alfred-1966 Batman (Figures Toy Company)
#3 Apache Chief- Superfriends (Figures Toy Company)
Leading the charge with 22% of the vote is Kurt Russel’s out law hero from Escape from New York. I’m very honoured to say that in fourth place was our own “Captain Canuck“, thanks folks!
BEST DC CHARACTER OF 2015:
#1 King Tut -1966 Batman (Figures Toy Company)
# Super Friends Robin (Figures Toy Company)
#3 Mr Freeze- 1966 Batman (Figures Toy Company)
It was a “Bad Guy/Batman” themed Sweep for FTC this year with Mr Freeze fetching 17% of the votes, Robin at 16% and Mr Freeze at 15%. That’s a close race!
This year’s annual Mego Convention June 17-18 in beautiful downtown Skokie!
BEST SCIENCE FICTION CHARACTER OF 2015:
#1 Snake Plissken (NECA)
#2 Solider Ape- Planet of the Apes (NECA)
#3 Sea Ghost
Snake took 39% this year with Soldier Ape fetching 37% rounding out in third place is the Indy hero Sea Ghost with 10% of the vote!
BEST 3 /4″ Line OF 2015:
#1 Jaws (Funko)
#2 Flash Gordon (Bif Bang Pow!)
#3 Star Trek (Funko)
Jaws took 26% of the votes this year while Flash came in at 24%, the crew of the enterprise came in at third with 14%.
BEST MARVEL CHARACTER OF 2015:
#1 Retro Wolverine
#2 Modern Captain America
#3 Modern Wolverine
You folks like your cowls removable! Retro Wolverine took 30% of the vote with Cap taking 28% at third Modern Wolverine with 15%
BEST HORROR 2015
#1 Jason and Mrs Vorhees- Friday the 13th (NECA)
#2 Freddy- Nightmare on Elm Street (NECA)
#3 Jason – Friday the 13th (NECA)
32% of voters think Moms make the best horror character, Mr Kruger came in at second with 23% and Jason Lives at 3rd with 20% pf votes.
BEST LIKENESS OF 2015
#1- Snake Plissken (NECA)
#2 Mr Freeze (Figures Toy Company)
#3 The Riddler (ECC Variant Figures Toy Company)
32% said “Call me Snake” this year while and Impressive 29% had warm thoughts for Mr Freeze, the Emerald City Comics Riddler variant came in third with 14% of the vote.
BEST EXCLUSIVE OF 2015
#1 Riddler (EMERALD CITY COMICS- FIGURES TOY COMPANY)
#2 Mrs Vorhees and Jason (SDCC – NECA)
#3 1966 Batman wave (ENTERTAINMENT EARTH -FIGURES TOY COMPANY)
The Riddler won with a whopping 40% of votes while the “Mother-boy” contestants came in with 26% of votes for a solid second place and at 20% the 1966 Bat exclusives.
BEST BAD GUY 2015
#1- King Tut -1966 Batman (Figures Toy Company)
#2- Mr Freeze- 1966 Batman (Figures Toy Company)
#3-TIE Doctor Sivana/ Great White Shark – World’s Greatest Heroes (Figures Toy Company)
A clean sweep for FTC this year with 21% of the votes going to King Tut, 18% going to Mr Freeze and 14% going to Dr Sivana and the Great White Shark (I couldn’t figure out that graphic sorry)

Another Kurt Russell victory with 19% of the votes in this happily crowded category, Retro Wolvie brought 14% of votes while King Tut rounded out third with a tight 13%
THE MOST HIGHLY ANTICIPATED LINE OF 2016 AWARD
#1 Space Ghost- HB characters (Figures Toy Company)
#2 Super Friends (Figures Toy Company)
#3 1966 Batman (Figures Toy Company)
16% of us want some Space Ghost while 15% want more Super friends, either way cartoons rule! 1966 Batman brought in 13% for a solid third.
AND FINALLY BEST REMEGO LINE OF THE YEAR!

With so much choice in the marketplace, it’s truly amazing that Batman 1966 was #1 with 40% of the vote. This is the second year in a row too! At second with 11% were the NECA horror creations and at third with ten are the always popular DC Comic’s Heroes from Figures Toy Company.
