II. Product Lines
3. Action Jackson
Action Jackson was Mego's response to Hasbro's GI Joe figure. AJ was smaller and cheaper, and the outfits and accessories certainly proved it. Much of the Action Jackson Line was recycled for other lines, including the tree house and stallion.
3a) Action Jackson Figures
Action Jackson came in a unique box, a combination of box and card. A window box was on the right, and the left side card had a full figure graphic on it. The basic Action Jackson wears a dark or light blue jumpsuit with an AJ emblem the right side of his chest, a white elastic belt and a pair of white boots. The box also includes a sheet of stick on Action Jackson logo tattoos

Some early Action Jackson figures came with plastic joints, instead of the early metal rivets. An instruction sheet was included to explain how to re-attach the joints if they came apart.
Several Foreign AJ's were also produced. See Section VII.
3b) Action Jackson Outfits
Action Jackson outfits came on three different styles of package. One was a blister card, one was a flat box with a painted scene of the outfit on the left of the cellophane window and another was a flat box with a generic drawing of Action Jackson on the left.
