Accessory Check : Happy Days Original and Known Reproduction Parts

The Happy Days line has been reproduced by Classic TV Toys as complete figures. This makes for plenty of reproduction parts for this line. Not addressed here are the heads. The CTVT reproductions feature new and unique headsculpts, not reproductions of the Mego heads, so they are very easy to spot so not covered here.

This section will help you identify the clothes and shoes that were reproduced by CTVT.

Type 2 Body

The Happy Days gang was only availalbe on the second version of the male body, which was more buff and had plastic joints instead of metal rivets, and strung together with hooks and rubber. Both Doctor Mego and Classic TV Toys offer factory made repro Mego bodies. DM's (marked 7th Street Toys on the back) is very accurate in detail and appearance. Lighter in flesh color, with a heavier feel and more rubbery hands. CTVT's bodies (marked Figures, Inc. on the back) are closer to original color, but tend to run a touch shorter, are more fragile, and have a slightly different design. A telltale sign of the CTVT body are the legs that tend to snap together at the knees. It should also be noted that Tim Mee produced the Type 2 body during the Mego era. This is a vintage knockoff that is identical in almost every way to the original body. It's weight is perhaps a touch lighter, and the Mego copyright info on the back of the body has been blotted out, but otherwise it's identical.

Fonzie Body

fonzbody

The Fonz is so cool he has his own unique Mego body. The pelvis section and the legs are the same as a regular Mego type 2 body, but from the waist up he's unique. The Fonz torso has a lever sticking out of his back that when pressed, causes the arms to spring up for that thumbs up action. The torso is taller than a standard torso and the muscles are sculpted differently. The arms are attached with pins and the hands have movable thumbs. This body has been reproduced by CTVT. Like the issues CTVT had with the standard type 2, the body has smaller parts and is more fragile. The smaller pelvis doesn't allow the torso ball joint to sit in the pelvis as far and the body is a lighter color.
