Accessory Check : Space 1999 Original and Known Reproduction Parts

The Space 1999 line has been reproduced by Classic TV Toys as complete figures. This makes for plenty of reproduction parts for this line. This section will help you identify those reproduction parts.

This page features the basic bodies used in the Space1999 line. Note when reading this section that there are only 5 original figures in this line. Clasic TV Toys has made several extentions to the Space 1999 line, so if a character is not mentioned, it is a modern extention to the line, and not an original Palitoy/Mego figure.

Type 2 Bodies

The Space 1999 line only comes on the second, more buff version of the Mego male body with the plastic joints instead of metal rivets. The Space1999 line features three kinds of type 2 bodies. Koenig and Morrow have white boot leg bodies. Carter and Zantor have the standard bootless t2, while Mysterious Alien features the black Star Trek style boot leg T2. The boots on the bootleg body are molded on as part of the lower leg. Both Doctor Mego and Classic TV Toys offer factory made repro standard type 2 Mego bodies, although only CTVT offers the boot leg body and in both colors. DM's (marked 7th Street Toys on the back) is very accurate in detail and appearance, but has a heavier feel and more rubbery hands. CTVT's bodies (marked Figures, Inc. on the back tend to run a touch shorter, are more fragile, and have a slightly different design. A telltale sign of the CTVT body are the legs that tend to snap together at the knees. The CTVT white boot leg bodies has a white knee pin, where the original has a flesh knee pin. It should also be noted that Tim Mee produced the standard Type 2 body during the Mego era. This is a vintage knockoff that is identical in almost every way to the original body. It's weight is perhaps a touch lighter, and the Mego copyright info on the back of the body has been blotted out, but otherwise it's identical.
