Mego of the Day: Humanoid

Mego of the Day is the incredibly elusive, foreign exclusive figure from the 1980 Walt Disney film "The Black Hole". A background group of characters, the humanoid is of particular interest to collectors due to figure only being sold in Canada and Italy.

The Mego Magnetic Old B.O.B prototype

We at the Museum got a nice Christmas present from Mego collecting legend John Bonavita in the form of these great shots of the prototype for the never mass produced magnetic figure of "Old B.O.B"

In 1979, Walt Disney sent out a press kit for their upcoming block buster film "The Black Hole" included in this was a specially made Mego Toys Catalog for the event. Full of items that were never produced, we are happy to show case it for the first time.

Heroes World Ad: Mego Black Hole

A fun ad in our Heroes world gallery today, this time it's a wonderfully illustrated piece for the Mego Black Hole 12" and 3 3/4" figures.

What's best about this image is how sneaky they depict Ernest Borgnine's character. Look at those shifty eyes, you know he's up to no good. DUN-DUN-DUN!

Black Hole Gallery update

Mego's Big Ideas for 1980

This new addition to the Mego Ad Archive is a 1980 advertisement for the 1980 Mego Line Up the piece features examples from many toy companies including fashion Candy, Micronauts, Black Hole and the Elastic Superheroes.

Mego's Outlook for 1980

A new entry to the Mego Museum Library today is this 1980 Toy Fair preview of some of Mego's new products. Sadly, many of them including cool Micronaut alien vehicles such as Iguanos and remote controlled VINCent from the Black Hole were never released.
